Comes with this candle is an incredible story of the lady behind it, Jo Malone. If you ask anyone what their favourite brand of candle is now, they’ll say Jo Malone which typically means; Lime Basil and Mandarin from the now mass marketed and produced collection owned by Estée Lauder Companies. Jo Malone, MBE as we know her today started out as a facial therapist and fell in love with fragrance while working from her discreet skin care clinic which she set up from her home in London.

Discovering an instinctual talent for creating scented products by hand in her kitchen, word of her exceptional potions quickly spread and soon Jo was unable to keep up with demand. From these artisan beginnings Jo launched her first brand, Jo Malone London, which gained cult status around the world. In 1999, Jo sold the business to Estée Lauder Companies and remained Creative Director until she left in 2006. Since then Jo Malone has moved onto pastures new creating an exclusive business named ‘Jo Loves‘. The niche collection of 12 fragrances with counterparts such as beautifully packaged products for the bath and body while not forgetting gifts for loved ones.

Fancy reading more of Jo’s story? It’s beyond. Her latest book named ‘Her Story‘, recounts her life through a business lens, from helping her father sell paintings at a market stall at age 8 to the founding of the Jo Malone brand and, recently Jo Loves. She also talks about difficult times, such as being estranged from her mother and overcoming breast cancer, topics she refers to with an unflustered air.

Enter Spring Layer, the latest creation from Jo Loves (pictured). The candle was inspired by Jo’s memories of falling in love with the South of France. The Spring Layered Candle has been designed to take you on a beautifully scented journey through the streets of Grasse and Mougins by layering three individual fragrance notes, one on top of the other.

Beginning with Neroli Blossom, this vibrant combination of sweet fruits and familiar florals instantly transports you to a flower market on a warm, bright day before melting effortlessly into mouth-watering Lime Cologne bursting with sharp and sparkling citrus scents before resting upon a calm and comforting base of Petitgrain which floats delicately through the air like a clean Mediterranean cologne.
