This morning, Patrick Grant the Creative Director of E.Tautz and the GQ Fashion fund winner for 2015, brought the 1950’s Britannia look back for the Spring 2016 man. Emerging from its post war doldrums the latest collection that hit the runway this morning was embracing modernism, consumerism and a dash of the old optimism. The clothing had strong reflections of the leisurewear atheistic.
Throughout the collection, Grant played with colours and added navy, taupe and white and played a lot with Lime. Hitting the runway was hooded anoraks with the traditional to the brand, wide legged jeans, with hits on contrasting colours. I particularly enjoyed the interpretation the golf jacket that walked various forms from the pullover to classic zip-ups, the sleeves of the outerwear shown resemblance to that of a men’s button-down, and ensembles were routinely anchored with the humble Plimsoll, by Christian Louboutin of course.
I arrived backstage just two hours and 20 minutes before show kick off time, read my pre show notes below that I was tapping away on:
The show was headed up by TONI&GUY’s Artistic team using the Professional Hair care range, Label.m that is sold in salons nationwide. This was Mens Hairdresser of the year, Kevin Luchmun’s second season heading up the team for Patrick Grant.
The collection’s hair look was all about the 1950’s post war kid taking control of his life, creating a bit of a rebellious look with the slicked back sides and ‘duck ass’ at the back. Luchmun and the team backstage applied plenty of Label.m’s Volume Moose (ULTIMATE must have product) while combing it through the hair from root to end. Manipulating the root with a comb, either side of the model’s hair was swept back / to the sides to create the sleek back finish.
10:16: Models walked to I”ll Drown’ by Soley and ‘At The End of The Day’ by Amon Tobin to show the latest collection to press, photographers and other opinion formers.
