Aviation themes were the starting point for Tadashi Shoji’s collection according to his show notes. One easily expected aviator jackets in the manner of Amelia Earhart but Shoji’s vision was a little more abstract, less literal. Instead he showed dresses with aerial view-like patterns, like fields seen from a plane. Shoji is deft at creating weightless frocks spun from tulle and chiffon and there were plenty of these in the collection, some with bejeweled details, others delicately pleated and embroidered.
