British label, Burberry has unveiled its much-anticipated festive campaign. Celebrating the 15th anniversary of British film Billy Elliot the British fashion house has recruited the likes of Sir Elton John, Julie Walters, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Romeo Beckham, James Cordon, Naomi Campbell and James Bay, making it an all-British cast.
Julie Walters played Billy Elliot’s ballet teacher Mrs Wilkinson in the original film and Sir Elton John wrote the music for Billy Elliot the Musical which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
Other stars of the campaign include Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery, singer George Ezra, and Rosie’s brother Toby Huntington-Whiteley.
The promo begins with original footage from the 2000 film, before we see the Burberry cast members, including 13-year-old Romeo Beckham as the only child, recreate the iconic opening jumping sequence.
The new 3 minute ad, which premiered last night at Burberry’s global flagship store on Regent Street in London, where over 700 people entered the private viewing of the video which has been directed by the brand’s creative director Christopher Bailey with accompanying stills by renowned celebrity photographer Mario Testino.
The original Billy Elliot movie raised cash to support charities in the Country Durham community of Easington where it was filmed.
