I have a confession, as you know – I, Cameron Tewson – am a fragrance addict. But honestly, with endless bottles on my bathroom shelf I am forever looking for the next best scent. I always say, nothing is better than a fragrance to evoke memories – or make new ones at that. So to kick off summer 2020, I’ve rounded up the top summer fragrances you’ll need to invest in:
Tonka Eau De Toilette, £65.00
Tonka is the fourth and latest fragrance from Laboratory Perfumes. The story begins in a jar of pink peppercorns. Rummaging in the spice cupboard, Laboratory Perfumes discovered that beneath their peppery notes, the dried berries of the Peruvian pepper tree have a finely balanced floral fruitiness to their aroma. Few scents say summer like this one, a vanilla-meets-coconut wonder that smells good enough to eat.
Creed Aventus Cologne from £155.00
Probably known as the most sexy fragrance, Creed Aventus is an iconic and attention-grabbing fragrance for men who want a big, bold scent – and the newly launched Aventus Cologne is no different. Available to buy in 50ml or 100ml and boasts an aromatic burst of ginger, mandarin while pink peppercorn is complemented by heart of patchouli, sandalwood and vetiver. The fresh scent of it on your body suggests you’re wearing a cologne – but not like any you’ve ever used before.
Floral Street Electric Rhubarb, £58.00
Created in collaboration with the Royal Horticultural Society, this scent from British brand Floral Street combines the sparkle of Prosecco with powdery sandalwood and even a lick of dash of salty sea air to make for an undeniably summery mix. Beautifully effervescent, there’s also creamy notes of rhubarb for a tactile finish. Simple but effective.
Sebastian by Carine Roitfeld, £233.00
As part of a collection of perfumes in which Carine Roitfeld imagines crossing paths with various different gentlemen, this one, she says, smells like meeting – and dancing the tango with – a man named Sebastian in Buenos Aires. True to the imagined scenario, it’s sexy, spicy and infused with tuberose, sandalwood and immortelle flower, for the headiest scent going. Not for the faint-nosed.
Stem by MALIN + GOETZ, £75.00
The newly launched Stem fragrance from skincare brand MALIN + GOETZ focuses on foliage rather than petals, this green-fingered fragrance gathers together the fresh scents of leaves, stalks and stems, bolstering the verdant elements with earthy musks and woods. Stem is softened by a trio of modern musk molecules to give the composition radiance, texture and of course – sensuality. It seeks to capture the eau of “a deconstructed garden” with fresh cut stems, crushed leaves and soil.
